Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
When you type a name or a date of birth into a search tool on this site, that entry travels straight to the outside provider running the search. The provider processes the request and sends back the results. We keep no copy of what you typed and no log of your query on our end.
Messages and Contact Submissions
If you email us, we hold onto the message so that we can answer it. It stays inside our own group. We will not pass it along to anyone outside the organization unless a legal obligation forces us to.
Data We Gather Automatically
Each time a page on this site loads, our servers record a handful of technical details about the visit:
- The IP address your device is using
- Which browser you are on and which version it is
- Your device type and operating system
- The pages you opened and how long each one stayed on screen
- The site that sent you here, when there was one
- A timestamp for every page view
Cookies and Analytics
This site uses cookies, which are small files placed on your device that tell us how visitors move through the pages - which ones draw the most traffic and where people tend to leave. Analytics services help us pull that traffic into aggregate numbers. You can block cookies through your browser settings at any time. If you do, some parts of the site may not behave the same way.
What We Do With This Data
- Keeping the site online, running, and loading quickly
- Routing your search requests to the correct partner service
- Learning which pages visitors find useful and which ones need work
- Finding and repairing technical problems
- Serving ads that may line up with your interests
No Warrant Data on File
This site does not host, maintain, compile, or sell databases of warrants or personal warrant-record information. Official warrant and case files are held by the Clinton County Sheriff's Office and by the courts, and requests for those records run through Michigan's Freedom of Information Act, MCL 15.231 et seq. What we publish is general guidance about where Clinton County warrant records sit and how to check them through the sheriff, the district and circuit courts, and the state systems that are open to the public. We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and nothing we collect about visitors is assembled into consumer reports or files about other people.
Third-Party Search Partners
The search boxes on this site are run by outside companies. Anything you enter into one of those tools is handled under the partner's own privacy policy rather than this one. Those partners decide for themselves how long they keep data and who they share it with, and we have no control over that. Read the partner's policy before you submit a search.
Links to Other Websites
We link out to sheriff's office pages, court portals, state record systems, legal aid groups, and outside search tools throughout the site. Clicking one of those links takes you off our site, and from that point the other site's privacy policy governs your visit. Read it before you share personal details.
Some advertising partners may follow your activity across sites in order to show targeted ads. That tracking happens on their systems, not ours.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal data. Some information may reach:
- Search partners that handle the queries you run here
- Analytics services that track traffic and performance
- Ad networks that place advertising on our pages
- Law enforcement or government bodies when a valid legal order requires it
How We Protect Your Data
We follow standard security practices to protect the data we collect. Nothing connected to the internet is bulletproof, though. We do what we can to keep your information safe, but we cannot promise that a breach will never happen.
Users Under 18
This site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has shared data with us, contact us and we will remove it promptly.
Your Data Rights
Depending on where you live, Michigan law may give you additional rights over your personal data. Michigan's Freedom of Information Act, MCL 15.231 et seq., governs access to records held by state and local agencies; MCL 15.235 sets the timelines an agency must meet and the fees it may charge; and MCL 15.243 lists the records and information an agency may withhold. Those provisions apply to government offices, not to a private site like this one. Here, at a minimum, you can:
- Ask for a copy of what we hold about you
- Have us correct information that is wrong
- Request that we delete your data
- Opt out of certain kinds of data processing
Updates to This Policy
We may revise this privacy policy later on. When we do, the new version appears on this page with a fresh effective date. Check back if you want to follow how we handle your information.
